Actor Channing Tatum is set to star in an adaptation of the 1974 science fiction novel by Joe Haldeman “The Forever War”.
Tatum, 35, will star in the film which has been in the works for years.
Based on the experiences of Haldeman in the Vietnam War, the film focuses on a young man named William Mandella, who is recruited by a military working group during a war against an alien race named the Taurans.
In 2008, Ridley Scott picked up the rights to the plans to direct the film. David Peoples, Matthew Michael Carnahan, and Dante Harper was commissioned to write the script. But now, the director is no longer involved in the project.
Roy Lee will also produce the film along with Tatum while John Spaihts, who wrote “Prometheus” is on board to write the script.
