KARACHI: Unidentified assailants shot dead an assistant teaching professor in the University of Karachi in Dastageer city on Wednesday, police said.

Police said Dr. Waheedur Rehman was a resident of the area B and Lateef Federal Square was attacked by gunmen in Dastageer shortly after the teacher left his residence.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Liaquatabad Noorani said Tahir Rehman was shot in the head and shoulder and died instantly.

A security adviser at the University of Karachi confirmed that Rehman was a faculty member in the Department of Communication at the University. He had until recently served as media adviser rector of the university, and wrote opinion pieces and columns for newspapers.

Rehman’s body was being moved to hospital as police arrived in the area of ​​crime to begin your research.
